Hi, I’m Vicky -

A UK-trained teacher and experienced tutor who has taught in both the UK and Hong Kong. I’m passionate about helping students of all ages grow in confidence and succeed in Maths and English.

I hold a BSc (Hons) in Psychology from the University of Nottingham, a Postgraduate Certificate in Education (PGCE) from the University of Cambridge, and a Postgraduate Diploma in Speech & Language Therapy from City University London. This multi-disciplinary background allows me to combine strong academic expertise with a deep understanding of individual learning needs.

After tutoring in the UK for 10 years, I have been working as a private tutor in Hong Kong since 2018, teaching students from age 3 up to adults in Maths and English. Beyond core tuition, I enjoy helping local and international students develop public speaking skills, interview technique, revision strategies, critical thinking and overall confidence in reading, writing and Maths.

I understand the competitive academic environment of Hong Kong, and the high demands placed on students. I use this insight to provide support that builds both skills and confidence, helping every learner navigate challenges and achieve their best.

My teaching philosophy is rooted in the belief that strong foundations are key to unlocking every child’s potential. I founded VLS Tuition in 2026, to reflect this principle of: “Strong Roots for a Brighter Future”. I believe that building core skills, confidence and curiosity enables students to flourish and pursue their goals with resilience and enthusiasm. My aim is to create lessons that are tailored to each student, helping them feel engaged and enjoy learning along the way.

I look forward to supporting you, or your child, on the journey toward greater confidence and success.

(If you would like more details about my qualifications and experience, I’m happy to provide my CV, upon request.)

My Tutoring Approach

Every child is unique, and effective tutoring begins with really getting to know each learner — their strengths, needs and the best way to support them. My approach is personalised and responsive, designed to help each student flourish in a way that works best for them.

To support every student effectively, I begin by assessing their needs, strengths and areas that may need extra attention. This helps me shape each lesson to match your child’s learning style and set realistic, positive goals from the start.

1. Individual Assessment

I value close communication with parents. Before we begin the first lesson, I offer a phone conversation to discuss your child’s education goals, learning objectives and any concerns. After the first session, I meet with you in person to share my initial findings and recommend the best path forward together.

2. Parental Input

Working closely with your child’s school can make a big difference. Many families share school reports or samples of schoolwork with me, so I can tailor lessons to reinforce classroom targets. When appropriate, I’m happy to liaise directly with school teachers to keep our approach consistent and ensure the best outcomes for your child.

3. Liaising with School

Students learn best when they are interested, motivated and inspired. I make sure that every tutoring session is enjoyable and engaging, using activities and resources that bring the subject to life and help each learner feel confident and curious.

4. Making it Fun & Engaging
